My battery drain excessively fast on my iPhone 6s Plus. I heard there is a recall on done batteries. How can I find out if my battery is included in the recall?

As an update, I called Apple support and they specifically asked if I'd done this update via WiFi. I said yes. The rep told me to put the phone into recovery mode and reinstall from within iTunes. So far, this looks like its improved my battery issue:

Here's the link they sent:

Hope this helps others.

Hi,

I recently (December 26th, 2017) saw in the news that Apple admitted in slowing the apps in the older iPhones (ie iPhone 6s) to retain it's battery life. Also, the news stated that Apple reduced the battery replacement price to $30 some ($80 original). When the first IOS 11 version came out, I updated my iPhone 6s plus. It was a bad idea because my battery starting to fail on me (approx late Sept 2017). I went to the Apple Genius bar and stated that I needed a new battery due to over used. I disagree because my wife has the same model and she use it more than I do and she didn't upgrade to version 11. I paid Apple the $80 some dollars to replace my battery. It's better now but I am on the 11.1.1 version (2 or 3 updates after the original 11.0.1 version). I am now waiting for Apple to post on how to get refund of the difference.

My sons IPhone 6s Plus is doing the same thing since he upgraded to the IOS 11.2.2, it is horrible.

He started at 58%, I did a hard reset & it immediately went down to 1%. I then immediately turned off the phone & then it went to 39%, it is doing all sorts of weird battery stuff since the 11.2.2 update. Before this , he had zero problems with the battery.

Come on apple, get this problem fixed.

I had my battery replace in March 2017. When I got the iOS 11 updates my under a year old battery failed. But Apple only covers 90 days. So now I need another new battery although now $30 instead of $80 but, am reluctant to do this because Apple has not corrected the problem with new iOS systems that will not continue to destroy the battery.

You apparently don't understand what Apple did. There is no issue with iOS that is destroying batteries. If the battery is already failing, iOS will throttle the processor to prevent your phone from suddenly shutting down. This is a good thing. Would you want your phone to, without warning, shut down when you needed it most?
