How do I remove "Favicons" from my Mac?

If I delete the "Favicons" cache safari works much faster. But then quickly renews itself. Otherwise safari hangs for a minute. How do I remove "Favicons" from my Mac?

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 2 TBT3), macOS High Sierra (10.13)

It sounds like you are convinced that your cache is slower than a round trip to the end server including all nodes between you and the server. I'm sorry I can't agree. I still think you have something else going on such as a third party anti virus or other cleaning, performance boosting app that may maybe interfering with browsing.

You could try posting an etrecheck report so that we may analyze what may be contributing to your issue.

I doubt favicons is causing Safari slowness. The purpose of the cache is to speed up browsing. Many/most web sites have a favicon, it is the little image that is displayed in the browser address bar. If the favicon for a site is not located in your browser cache the page has to perform another server access to get the favicon. If the favicon is found locally in your cache then this additional round trip to the server is not required. It is much faster to load an image (favicon) from your local cache than from a remote web site. You have some other issue causing slowness.

Leave favicon cache , if entire contents of safari folder , from user library are selected and deleted , restarting the machine and then empty the trash .

Once again if you open the user library > safari folder - fresh new contents are recreated .

Same with caches and cookies folder - you can confirm this with apple support .

There is no apple article for this .

Yes that's the idea but it has to look through the cache first instead of just using it from the web. Trust me on my machine without the favicons cache the first couple of pages are very fast. Then it reinitiates & every page will hang with about an inch of progress bar for thirty seconds. I read favicons is a Microsoft development. To me that explains all, Microsoft is the worst.

OK then I can't explain why before the cache has time to reinitiate the web is the fastest I've ever seen on any machine in twenty years. I have no apps or cleaning tools other then Amazon Music. Other then that it is bare Apple as new. Initially I wanted to clean out the history & turned off data base caches. I also removed the favicon, sure enough it was quick as could be until favicon got back on. All I want to do is remove favicon permanently.
