Spotlight in the wrong place on menu bar

Question

My spotlight icon is on the wrong place in the menu bar.

if you look on the top right, the spotlight is in the middle of the menu bar. Can you tell me how to move this back into place?

Details of Mac:

15' macbook pro 2016 (OSX sierra 10.12.6)

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2016), macOS Sierra (10.12.2)

Hold the command key down then click and hold on the Spotlight icon and move it to where you would like it.

You can do this with the other menubar icons too.

Do so laterally on the menu bar, and do not drag them out over the Desktop while moving them.
