How can I start up Mac Mini in Recovery Mode while screen sharing?

I have a Mac Mini that I need to start up in Recovery Mode. The only problem is that the Mac Mini does not have a monitor wired to it, and I am using Apple's Screen Sharing on my iMac to control the Mac Mini. When I click to restart the Mac Mini (from my iMac's Screen Share), the Screen Sharing application will disconnect from the Mac Mini and holding down Command-r doesn't do anything. Then after a minute or two, the Screen Share will reconnect and I will be at the log in screen. I completely understand why the Screen Sharing application disconnects from the Mac Mini while it's restarting, but I was wondering if there is any other way to start up the Mac Mini in Recovery Mode.
