Large Rectangle follows Cursor across screen

After upgrade to High Sierra 10.13.1, I seem to have a large 25cm x 14cm rectangle now following the pointer across the screen. It always stays on the screen even when the pointer moves to the corners. It seems to be a kind of tracking tool which may have been left 'ON' during development and has been rolled out in the production version released. Does anyone know if a switch/function that can turn it off? Perhaps a patch fix is needed?

Mac mini (Late 2012), macOS High Sierra (10.13.1), wireless keyboard + trackpad

Just a guess:

 (Apple menu) > System Preferences... > Accessibility > Vision > Zoom > Options... > Show preview rectangle when zoomed out >

Toggle that setting.

It's not a tracking tool, but an aid for the visually impaired. I surmise it was inadvertently enabled in the High Sierra upgrade.

Mini Adventure,

Open the VoiceOver Utility, located in the Utilities Folder. Then select Visuals>Cursor>...deselect "Show Voiceover Cursor."

Also check System Preferences...>Accessibility>VoiceOver, and deselect "Enable VoiceOver.

Thanks Ferd II... it wasn't this but this set me off looking further. Found it - a toggled 'ZOOM' function was 'ON' in the Accessibility >> Zoom option " Use Keyboard shortcuts to zoom "

That's going to be fun for a lot of users !

After updating to macOS High Sierra my cursor was surrounded

by a large rectangle that followed the cursor except when the

rectangle was up against the side of the screen

I was able to remove the annoying rectangle by choosing in succession:

Apple icon > System Preferences > Accessibility > Zoom

> right of Zoom Style: click "Options" > UNcheck "Show preview rectangle"

and the rectangle immediately disappeared.

Hi John Galt. Perfect 10.

The option to use the keyboard shortcuts to Zoom was switched 'ON' in the accessibility options. That's going to be fun for a few folk..
