You can’t.

If you do not like the default iOS 11 keyboard, there are other third party keyboards to choose from in the iOS App Store.

I use this one

PadKeys

Thanks so much MichelPM. I will give this a try and hope it works for me and that Apple will correct this one the next update. I will get back to you.

Thanks again. Because of your response, it opened up a world of 3rd party keyboards to me. It also opened an unknown fact to me and that is if one gives full access to that kb, then the developer can have knowledge of everything I type. I don't feel comfortable with this at all. But I do thank you! Had this keyboard been a $ or two, I probably would have tried your suggestion. Instead, I am trying Grammarly.

I am really bother that Apple doesn't offer a better default kb so we would not have to give a kb vendor such string insight into what we type.

Thanks again.

Same here, really frustrating having the spacebar shorten on the right with a magic "undo" buton that pop without notice where was the space bar hiden by my right thumb everytime i type numbers.

I just never remember and press undo whyle i think i press space bar with right tumb after the numbers.

What the **** were they thinking doing this ?!? my text diseapear all the time and i get ititated quite fast.

No option to disable that ? really ??? even dumber... 😟

Doing undo of undo, great job devs. 😝

Let us please decide if we want to use it or not, that is ridiculous.

Using third party apps for keyboards ? no way !

(But thanks to the one that said it's the only alternative for now)

Apple guys, fix it please.

Great devices, really bad input interface.

Score lowered from 10 to 8 ;p

If you look at all the third party virtual onboard keyboard options, you may find one that eliminates ALL of the frustrations with MANY of Apple's onboard keyboard layout decisions found in the iOS 11 onboard keyboard.

PadKeys isn’t the ONLY alternative available, but I feel it is one of the better third party virtual keyboards.

Try a third party keyboard you might like before dismissing the idea, out of hand.

Good Luck to You!

I didnt said that the one you propose is the only one offered as alternative, i said that using 3rd party keyboard app is the only alternative... to Apple embeded one.

And that really suck !

Paying to fix what was fine with previous version of the iOS ?

Risking leak of critical information over an app ?

How ridiculus is that situation ?

What risk are you referring to?

I have been using my particular third party keyboard of choice for nearly two years, now.

Nothing wrong with PadKeys. It offers easier access to tge most commonly used characters and symbols and it offers onscreen navigation arrows to more easily navigate the iPad’s screen, and its grammer and spell checking functions work a WHOLE LOT better than Apple’s.

I have always hated the way the default iOS keyboard was laid out and works over the years AND,BTW, the built-in, onboard iOS keyboard layout and functionality has only been getting WORSE with each new iteration of iOS.

So far, though, iOS 11 onboard, virtual keyboard has been THE WORSE iteration, yet!

Apple is the one that opened up iOS (I think this happened in iOS 9) to third party keyboards because there were quite a few users, like me, that always hated the onboard virtual keyboard layout and changes to the keyboard over the years with each new major iOS upgrade release.

Apple keeps modifying the onboard virtually keyboard to more cater to everyone’s common needs and ends up catering not very well to anyone!

These third keyboards offer NO risk.

With my recommended third party keyboard, just don't activate the full access feature and everything is just peachy.

That one feature, isn't really a neccessity, so it's no biggie to just leave it disabled.

I think that particular full access/keyboard monitoring feature has been removed since PadKeys version 3.

I no longer see this option in the current version of PadKeys.

That particular feature isn't any different than disabling some features, like in some of my design/drawing apps, AND Apple, for that matter, that want you to activate analytic info to track app and device data.

I never trusted that analytics feature and ALWAYS make sure toturn that feature OFF if it’s On, by default.

Other third party keyboards may not have a feature like that that could activate and monitor your keyboard activity.

But like I stated earlier, it looks like this feature has been removed in PadKeys with version 3.

Nothing wrong whatsoever with choosing to use a third party keyboard over Apple's own built-in keyboard.

Apple’ s own iOS designed virtual onboard keyboard has always had issues and difficulties implementing easier to find common characters and features.

Many iOS users STILL aren't aware of Apple's hidden, built-in keyboard trackpad feature that has been with iOS since iOS 9.

How do I disable or move the undo key in IOS 11?
