How do I reset my whole iPad.

I haven't used my mini iPad for about a year. I can't remember my password and when I go to answer the questions, it tells me that it's not my birthday. So I try to get an email and it never comes... Ever. I don't know much about iPad.... I just want to start over and if I was a punching kind of person.... This iPad would be destroyed....
