Problem with Quick Look in High Sierra 10.13.1

I have probems with editing in Textedit. Textedit is behaving erratic especially at the end of longer files containing Xcode code with code coloring. I also have occational screen shots within the file. It is unfortunate that textedit has become erratic since I know of no good alternative for my particular use as programming diary.

Is there any hope for a fix to Textedit soon?

Well, I stumbled on this looking for help with Quick Look issues in High Sierra (which for me is a little slow). But for your TextEdit problem, have you tried TextWrangler? It's being phased out by Bare Bones Software, but you can still get it for now from the App Store. It doesn't do rtf, but it does have contextual highlighting for code.

I have not tested all that much since updating to 10.13.2, but it looks like my textEdit problem has perished..or at least the problem is much less present. I have updated a couple of my long textEdit docs without a single incident and I am hoping it is not a coincidence!

I have considered using something else but found that the most relevant alternative would have been MicroSoft Word for this particular use. The problem with Word is that it cannot really handle heavy graphics if I should be needing that but neither can TextEdit. I remember some 20 years ago when I had to use FrameMaker when a text contained too much pictures for Word to handle. Unfortunately even now Word have that problem with heavy graphics and FrameMaker is long gone... Indesign is a little too rigid for my use.

I am considering BBEdit for heavy text processing with regular expressions handling in situation when Xcode (9.2) is still is not good enough...
