iPhone X gets hot on backside while using apps/watching videos and charging?

Hi, just trying to figure out if this is an issue or if it’s just an unfortunate side effect. But I have noticed that my iPhone X is getting really hot in the upper back side when I’m streaming a video or playing a game, etc. it also feels warm while charging. I haven’t dropped or damaged it in any way. Is there a software and or internal component issue I should get looked at? Or again is this just part of the phones notmal operation? Thanks for any help/insight in advance!

Hello Breibee27,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are noticing your new iPhone getting warm. The good news is this could be expected behavior, as this resource explains:

Your device might get warm

When you use the device or charge the battery, the device might get warm. You might notice that your device feels warmer in these situations:

  • When you set up your device the first time
  • When you restore from a backup
  • When apps reindex or reanalyze data, like Photos tagging for faces, places, or keywords after a software update

These conditions are normal, and your device will return to a regular temperature when complete.

Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures

Cheers!

I got my iPhone X on the 14th and it has been running warm most of the time in the case, it gets very warm while I use facebook or talk on the phone. I don't know what the deal here, But I am getting sick of this after buying it outright for $1300. Also, I have the App background refresh to be off and I kill apps all the time. With no apps running it gets warm at home on wifi or LTE at work. WTH
