I imported some videos into my new iPhone X but in Photos they appear without names or icons, just a black square with the duration in small numerals.
Is there a way to make names and icons appear?
Is there an app that does a better job?

I don't know how you imported your videos. I use this method, and it works:

I used AirDrop.
That looks like a good way, and will names and icons appear in Photos on my phone?
Btw, I don't see iTunes on my phone and app store doesn't seem to have.

Do you have a computer (Mac/PC)?
iTunes it's a computer program and you have to download and install it from apple.com. Current version is 12.7.1.
