No anti-virus or so-called "cleaning" apps are needed or recommended for Mac OS. They can interfere with Mac's own built-in security. At best they use unnecessary resources and can slow your Mac, at worst they can bork your system.

Avoid MacKeeper and all other such third party apps that claim they will increase security, cleanup you Mac or any other such things. What they in fact do is cause far more problems then they offer in the way of doing anything useful.
Forget MacKeeper, it's as bad as malware. Keep well clear of it.
