Does anyone know how to fix this issue in the mail app?

This is for my mother- when she opens the mail app on her IPad ver. 4, a plain white box appears in the middle of the screen, obscuring her emails. How would we remove it? I don’t have an image yet, but I will be able to add one when I see her on Tuesday.
