I can't get to messages/phone without tapping multiple times

Some times I can't make a phone call at all. It just takes me to contacts and I have to manually dial. Same thing with favorites. What good is favorites if I have to tap 4 times to call someone??? Same with messaging. what se to take me 1 tap now takes me 3 or 4 or I get nowhere and have to start all over.
