Question: Will iBooks Author work on a iPad?

I've been writing a book in iBooks Author on my iMac but I don't always like sitting and working in the same place. Does iBooks Author work on the iPad?

There is not an iPad version of iBooks Author.

You can, however, write with Pages, and import from Pages right in to iBooks Author.

I personally start and do all writing in Pages first. Then I have the choice of exporting directly to EPUB from Pages, if it doesn’t need the multi-touch features of iBooks Author. Pages exports EPUB as reflow or fixed, has better table options and supports footnotes FYI.

Even if you do plan to take it in to iBooks Author, it’s still easy. It’s best to do one Pages document per chapter. It will create and respect the sections created in Pages.

Another advantage for new books is that you can flow your Pages (or Word) flies in to different templates if you’re not sure which you’re going to use. If you start your book in iBooks Author, you can’t easily switch to a different template.

Another advantage is Pages works on mac, iPad, or iPhone and can store in iCloud and work everywhere.

I’ve created huge chunks of books just using Pages and voice to text on iPhone or iPad with minimal typing.
