Temporary use of Magic Mouse instead of Magic Mouse 2

I would like to pair my old Magic Mouse with my newer Late 2015 model iMac. The iMac came with Magic Mouse 2 but I need something to use temporarily when it is charging up.

My older Mac’s Magic Mouse would be ideal for this purpose if only I could work out how to pair it with my iMac. My iMac seems only to be able to find the MM2.

Yeah, that’s weird. Obviously you need ‘a’ mouse of some kind and ‘a’ keyboard of some kind, that much is true. All I could suggest is that you go to Bluetooth preferences and add the Magic Mouse, turn it on, and it should connect-you shouldn’t have to pair it with your iMac. In theory you should be able to have 2 Bluetooth mice going at the same time/however this may not be true- it may be one at a time- other than that maybe choose ‘forget this device’ and add it later, maybe zap pram and see if that helps

Well I tried
