Photos 3.0 locking up?

Photos 3.0 locking up?

Am I the only one? I rather doubt it...

Photos 3.0 (3231.11.210) regularly locks up. Whatever Photos version I had before I upgraded to High Sierra did it occasionally, since the upgrade the lockups are an every few minutes affair. I have to force close to recover. Is there any remedy?

And while I'm at it - the arrangement of editing tools in this new version is downright unruly! Why can't the software developers leave things alone when they are already working well???

And - to add to this "challenge":

1. Editing is VERY slow. And several times while using the retouch feature, Photos has again locked up and I could only recover by Force Quitting the app, and loosing the edit work I had already done.

2. Several times during a retouch, the picture "moved" on the screen, and effectively I wound up retouching another part of the photo that I was not intending to retouch.

Whatever is going on here???

It locks up on me several times a session, even when just looking at pictures. I have to force quit and restart multiple times. Takes all the joy out of it.

I use an external Samsung_T3 1TB ssd. Many of my files are 36-45MB (Sony and Nikon RAW files).

I kinda think Photo was a step back from iPhotos.
