why are google predictions not working on my MacBook Pro?

I've tried to research why google predictions are not coming up, found nothing. I've did the untick and tick 'include search engine predictions' box, nothing. Predictions work fine on Chrome but I much prefer safari, can anyone help me out? my MacBook is the 13" pro 2016 thanks
