MacBook Pro won't start after update to the MacOS High Sierra. Took it to the Apple Store and found tht the SSD could not be detected

Hi Everyone, I updated my MacBook Pro to the MacOS High Sierra and it went into a continous loop and never started again. So, I took it to the Apple Store and found they found that the SSD could not be detected since it unmounts itself after every 2 mins. To me it appears as a bug in the MacOS High Sierra, but the Apple Genius Bar refuses that this is the case and doesn't take any accountability for this situation and gives me a repair quote of $1150 + tax to buy a new SSD.

I understand Mac needs to be repaired, but do you have a question?

Software can't break hardware, if that's what you're getting at.
