macOS Sierra 10.13.1 Preview bug

PDFs were working fine before I downloaded the new os. Now Highlighting and copying and pasting is all messed up. It will highlight only the words that it wants to highlight, completely random. Copy and paste are useless. Must pull up the pdf and the word document and type the quotation rather than copy and paste.

Please fix.

Copying from a PDF file and pasting into a Word 2008 document works in High Sierra 10.13.1 as is highlighting text in a PDF file:

If you're not able to do that try booting into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and try from there. Note: the boot time will be longer than usual as the system will be going thru some checks and repairs.
