This method is used in Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.1

Click on History > Again click on Show All History .

User uploaded file

Click on add bookmarks .

User uploaded file

Select it and add this page to again click on add .

User uploaded file

Open bookmarks side bar , it is added .

User uploaded file

Right click on the single item and click on delete .

User uploaded file

The procedure used for a single item , if there are links added in bookmarks side bar they can be selected ( use command and A on the keyboard and saved in bookmarks ) , also it is a manual method , the pages won't turn automatically into bookmarks unless you apply it .

If it is happening automatically , some malware possibilities or you are using some cleaners , some unidentified apps have installed anti virus unknowingly or safari is malfunctioning .

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Quit the application.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Safari. Move the files that start with History to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the files from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the files to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

This may require a reset of some other Preferences.
