disk utility software

does macbook pro have a disk utility software? I am trying to check my hard drive as it is running slow. probably have some junk on it that needs cleaning up.

Disk Utility.app is in the Utilities folder on every MacOS Install, every version. It is also available in recovery Mode, and in every Installer image.


It will read and check the Directory for self-consistency. This makes sure you do not have cross-liked files, and every file is taking up the right amount of space, and the free list is correct.


Disk Utility does not read ANY other files on the drive, outside of the Directory.


To check for junk and figure out why your mac is slow, use this non-invasive Utility. It does not even have to be Installed. Then "share" and post the entire report to a reply on the forums, and readers can help you determine what might be causing the slowness.
