How to open a PC file on a mac

I have a camera flash drive with some photos on it - all JPG.

The camera flash drive was modified on a Dell PC with Windows to create three separate file folders with names and then all the photos were segmented into one of the three folders.

Each new folder now has a few hundred photos.

When we try to open the flash drive on our Mac it show a "no files found" message.

But when we go back to the Dell they are all there.

How do we get the Mac to open or recognize the files on this camera flash drive?

iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

The .jpg file format should not be a problem. The question is what was done to the flash drive on the PC.

The immediate easy way (without further changing anything) could be to use the PC to copy the .jpg files on the camera flash drive to a USB flash/thumb drive (usually, in an MS-DOS FAT format), and then move that USB drive to the Mac.

Always make sure that you have at least two backup copies of all photo files.

Regarding the camera flash drive, what kind of card is it? SD or CompactFlash?

Which camera make and model is it?

Earlier (before the modification on the PC), was it possible to read this card as it was on the Mac (and had the card then been formatted inside the camera or externally)?

Do you know the exact method (drive/card format, etc) used when the changes then were carried out on the PC?
