iphone not recognized MacBook Pro

I recently had a problem with my MacBook not recognizing my iPhone. It was not recognized in system report under USB or charging and syncing to iTunes. Apple support could not fix the issue. After trying everything I checked the phones USB connector and found a bent pin as well as another missing pin. The connector should have 8 pins. Something to check if all else fails.
