Four iPhones using same Apple ID, all have iMessage turned on and using Apple ID. When texts are sent from one iPhone to another, messages either are not received or sent as SMS. Is there a setting I have missed? Also, this change just happened over past week or so. I am running latest iOS. Thanks in advance.

Well, sometimes iMessage activation can take a little while, and the process involves sending a hidden SMS from the phone to the iMessage servers in the UK. If your carrier is an Apple supported carrier, then those messages should go through easily, but if they are not supported, it can be delayed, and even blocked if there is a problem with your SMS plan. The sending and receiving of iMessage rely on a number of factors, for both the sender and the receiver. First, iMessage needs to be activated. Check Settings>Messages to ensure it is active. The receiver will have to do the same thing. The sender and the receiver both have to have an active connection to the internet, either wi-fi or cellular. If cellular, then cellular data has to be turned on. Make sure that the address you are sending to is marked in the receiver's device as a send/receive address. If any of those change during the message thread, then the message can fail. If you have Send as SMS turned on and iMessage is not available, the message should be sent as an SMS.
Thank you but this has not corrected issue. I have also found that phone calls and texts to 2 of the phones are not received. Anymore thoughts? We used this setup for a few years and just had trouble in the last 10 days. Thanks.
Sharing of an Apple ID is not recommended, however, if you insist on doing this, anytime there is an iOS update, you will need to check the settings on all devices to ensure none of those settings change. That will happen occasionally. Make sure that iMessage is on for all devices, and then check the Send & Receive settings for each device. Phone calls is a completely separate issue from iMessage. If you have two devices that are not receiving phone calls, that would have to be addressed by your cellular carrier. They handle phone calls. You can also check a setting that can be used to have calls on other phones. Go to Settings>Phone>Calls on Other Devices, and make sure that is OFF.
Hello, I may have found the fix. I checked the blocked list and found my phone number blocked. When this was corrected texts and phone calls went through. Just having trouble getting iMessages deactivated on phone. It keeps failing. Thanks again.
Well, I'm glad you found that. Deactivating iMessages is something different than what you were speaking of earlier. What exactly are you trying for, do you have a new phone? Explain a little and we can see if we can help.
I resolved the original issue, now trying to active iMessages but keep getting message Waiting for activiation, then action times out. I have logged out of Apple ID, turned phone off/on and then tried to activate iMessages again. Any thoughts?
