Cannot print due to port size change on MacBook Pro.

I have a 2008 MacBook and a new MacBook Pro. I would like to quit using my old MacBook and be able to use the new one to print sign vinyl. I am not happy at all that they changed the USB port. It is making it difficult to use the new MB Pro to print vinyl, etc.. I bought a converter for my Canon printer so that I can connect to scan or fax but the USB on my vinyl cutter is a tiny bit bigger and will not fit into the converter. Any suggestions?
