Someone else's email address

I just bought a new iPad and when I set it up to get my stuff from iCloud, someone else's email address popped up too and it asked me to put in the password for that email address and get the content. I have no idea who's email address that is or how it got linked to my iPad or iCloud. I signed into Apple ID and the address was not there. How do i stopped it from popping up prompting me to sign into iTunes with that email address and why was it linked to my account? Was I hacked?

It sounds like someone else entered their Apple ID on the iPad before you bought it. Return it to where you bought it and ask for a refund.
