Hello, I’ve been wanting an Apple Watch for some time now I’m just scared it will cause a nickel allergy. Just wondering if any models are nickel free?

Do watches contain nickel?

Hi

There is no model of Apple Watch that has no metal or nickel touching the skin; the magnets in all models of Apple Watch contain some nickel.

If you are highly allergic to nickel, then is certainly possible that Apple Watch and/or a band may cause a reaction.

More information, including tips from Apple:

If you do experience redness, swelling, itchiness or any other irritation or discomfort on your skin around or beneath your watch or band, then Apple recommends that you remove your Apple Watch and consult a doctor / physician before wearing it again.

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in Apple Watch. I thought this might help:

Nickel.

" Apple Watch models with a stainless steel or an aluminum case, the stainless steel portions of some Apple Watch bands, the metallic portions of the Hermès bands, and the magnets in the watch and bands, each contain some nickel. However, they all fall below the strict nickel restrictions set by European REACH regulation. Therefore, while nickel exposure is unlikely to be a problem, you should be aware of the possibility in case you're susceptible to nickel-related reactions."
