A person messaged me over twitter asking me questions about where I live and what phone carrier I use. I have a feeling they’re trying to hack my iPhone. How can I tell and I’d it possible for them to do so?

If you stick to apps approved by Apple, you should have no concern about the phone being hacked.

On the other hand, there are many scams to avoid, so protect your information carefully and consider Two Factor Authentication.

Since you don’t know them, just ignore them. Nothing at all can happen unless you give out information. You should never feel compelled to respond, at all, to any unsolicited message from anyone. Just ignore all unsolicited messages, and any that ask questions that either the sender clearly has no need of an answer or which make you feel uncomfortable.

The only way these phishing scams ever get anywhere is because people respond. If everyone just ignored them completely, they’d eventually just fade away.
