iOS 11.1.1 fixes one issue but creates others. Why?

After the iOS 11.1.1 update I can’t type certain letters or numbers on my keyboard. Why? This doesn’t even make sense. I would type the letters and numbers, but it won’t let me! I am relying on prediction text. Please, someone else confirm it’s not just me!
