Has anyone able to establish a good connection between iwatch 3 LTE with BMW bluetooth. I'm having issues when trying to pair, both devices see the same pairing key - then fail to establish connection.

Whilst some users have reported success with pairing Apple Watch with certain car Bluetooth systems, Apple advises that iPhone, iPad and iPod touch are the only devices that are designed for use with car audio systems.
Apple Watch can be paired with compatible Bluetooth headphones and Bluetooth speakers, but it is not designed to be paired with car audio systems:

I got the watch so that I could leave my phone behind on short errands and still be able to take phone calls and use car play. Guess we are not there yet.
