Which model iMac do you have? Last evening I received the update notice and saw that the High Sierra installer had automatically downloaded to my 21.5" iMac (late-2013).
After reading about some of the issues folks have had, I'm a bit spooked about installing it.
My iMac is stock, and the only third-party S/W is my HP 4502 print driver.

Im using 21.5-inch, Late 2015 model.
Its running all ok now since kodecount asked me to reinstall it.. it works perfectly now.
