iPad updated without authorisation now lags

I woke up and my iPad had updated itself from ios 10 to iOS 11 I did not want this and always clicked remind me later as ios11 is very laggy and battery eating on my iPhone, I also had to use control centre to change my volume as the button was broke now it’s nearly impossible with the new dock situation, I want to know how it updated without me telling it too
