iCloud Photo Library is not updating photos between devices

6 months ago when I first purchased my MacBook Air, I was able to use iCloud Photo Library. This allowed me to access all the same photo content across my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. Now for some reason the photos no longer transfer or update between devices, despite having my ICloud Photo Library turned on. This is inconvenient, and the only way I am able to get the photos from my phone to my Mac is to plug it in via USB and click ‘import’. I would really like this issue fixed, and thanks in advance for anyone’s input.

Cheers,

Ryan

What is the total number of photos/videos on each device? Is it correct at www.icloud.com? Does the same count reflect on the iPhone? Are you seeing the discrepancy on the Photos app (dock) on the Mac?

I ask as I recently experienced a similar issue. Totals were okay at iCloud.com and iPhone (for me), but not on the Photos in the dock on the Mac.

Try going to iCloud.com using a computer to see if the items are there and whether they are from the device or the computer. That should show whether the device or the computer isn't syncing. If the computer, try going to System Preferences/iCloud and stop syncing. Wait a couple of minutes, then recheck syncing. If the device, go to Settings/Your Name/iCloud and do the above. As a last resort, you can also try signing out of iCloud and then sign in again.
