Problem connecting with Facetime

Over the past two weeks I have had a problem connecting from Oz to UK, I try ringing and the person in UK answers it comes up with connecting but then drops out, they try to connect back to me and the same thing happens, what could be the issue, I have not had a problem in the past, could it be to do with my provider? I have updated my software and they have also, she has a ipad.
