Apple Watch Activation Lock

Bonjour Dears,

I bought a second hand apple watch from someone who used to live in France and I took it with the box and all its original accessories so for me there is no doubt that its stolen however when I came home to part it with my iPhone though wifi it asked me to update the watch to the latest software in order to be able to use the watch as shown below. but suddenly it asked me for the iCloud of the previous owner to complete the update and when contacting the guy who sold it to me he told me that he doesn't remember the original owner as he used to buy a lot of used apple products and can't reach the owner anymore.

So now i'm stuck with the watch and can not use it or even can't reach out to the original owner to check if it was stollen or not.

Please I need your help if you can contact the original owner and ask him if he sold it and forgot to unlink the watch from find my iPhone so he can open it for me or if it was stollen how can I manage to return it back to him because anyway its useless for me to keep it and I don't want to have a stollen watch.

Unfortunately I don't have an Apple Store in Morocco to report the issue so i'm counting on your professional help.

Watch Serial Number: FH***9J6 and please find all images in the attachments.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Thanx

Hi

You are not talking to Apple here - this is a user-based technical support community.

Activation Lock prevents unauthorised use of Apple Watch if it is lost or stolen.

The previous owner should have removed the lock before selling their device.

To be able to pair the Apple Watch to your own iPhone, you would need the previous owner (who may not be the seller) to either enter their Apple ID and password on your iPhone or to turn the feature off via https://www.icloud.com/ (by signing in with their Apple ID > Find My iPhone > All Devices, then select the Apple Watch > Erase Apple Watch > Next until erased > click X next to the watch).

If you cannot arrange for the previous owner to do this, then you should, if possible, return the Apple Watch for a refund.

I'm afraid that you will not otherwise be able to use the Apple Watch. There is no way around this security feature.

Apple will not advise you of the previous owner's contact details, nor will Apple pass your details on to them.
