mail crashes after OS 10.13.1 update

I have tried to address this through chat and phone with apple support, but have not resolved the issue. If I had 2 hours, we could probably work through it, but I don't. Wish I could do it via email, but not an option. Is there anyone who has had this problem? I have a macbook pro. I updated High Sierra to 10.13.1 and now my mail crashes almost immediately. I reinstalled OS 10.13.1. I created a new mail account and that works. I do not want to change my email address. My husband has no problem with our email address on his macbook air. There has got to be something on my own computer that is making this happen.
