Retrieve password from keychain
Open Keychain Access.
Finder > Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access
Click the lock icon and provide the user login password to authenticate.
Select "Login", and then "Password" in the sidebar.
Double click the entry under "Name" to select.
A small window will appear.
Select "Attributes”, if not already.
Checkmark the box beside "Show Password" to enable it.
In the dialog that appears, enter the login password and click “Allow”.
The password will appear in the box next to it.
Next time when the system needs to use the keychain, box will appear asking for the login/keychain password.
Enter the password, and then click OK.

There is a bug/feature in the upgrade process for High Sierra - if it cannot unlock your login keychain with the Mac's login password then it renames the keychain to login_renamed_1 and creates a blank new keychain.
You will get this problem if you have a different password on your keychain to your computer password - if you rename the login_renamed_1 file in ~/Library/Keychains to login this should restore your passwords to you ( or use a time machine backup to restore your ~/Library/Keychains folder to just before the upgrade)
Hi
In another post you mentioned ho to see the users library to restore the files from a time capusle
As soon as I want to restore the files I can't see the library anymore when I go to a backup, I only see this on the present date?
When I try this I get an error message. "The provided password did not unlock this keychain, or access has been limited to a particular user account"
I tried replacing the Keychain folder in my library with a backup. It initially worked. But immediately reverted back to the same error message. I don't know how to fix this.
Thank you JM. That was the solution I was looking for. Awesome info!
When you are at the backup you want to restore from enter the below in the search bar.
~/Library/Keychains
Log out of your account.
Try logging into iCloud.
Then back into your account.
