Wallet is not sending real time alerts

I'm a new Wallet user on my 7P with latest iOS. Added my VISA credit card just fine. But Wallet is not sending me alerts, or showing card activity, for transactions not made on phone. My friend showed me how his iPhone wallet gives him real time alerts instantly. But, mine is not. I have all notifications for Wallet turned on. Is this a Apple settings or VISA issue? Thanks.
