Try going to the website for your mail provider. If the log in credential auto fill, delete and re enter the information just to make sure the information is correct. If you are able to log in you may want to remote the account from your device and re add it. Only do this if you are certain your account is an IMAP account, ie google, yahoo, etc. If you are unable to log into the website you may have to change your password then proceed with the second step of removing the account from your device.
What mail provider are you using?
Settings>Accounts&Passwords
Have you tried to delete your account and then add it back again?
If it can be added again automatically, ask your mail provider to give you the info requested and add it manually.

I had a similar problem when using a VPN. My provider would not allow my account to send an e-mail because it didn't like where my connection was originating. I disconnected from the VPN and the e-mails all sent.

Go to settings down to Email Accounts delete accounts that are not working then add Them back again.
