iBook recognition problem

I've created an iBook and want to make a sample volume for the iBooks Store. I duplicated the iBooks Author file for the iBook and then deleted all but a few chapters, changed the Intro media, and changed the information on the iBook in the inspector. I then exported the iBook with a new name. When I try to open this sample iBook in the iBooks App, it is recognized as the original book, which is already in the app instead of as the new sample book. What do I have to change to get this sample book recognized as a new book?

You have to duplicate as new book, or rest for iBooks Store. Hold the option key and you’ll see it under the File menu.

Books have an internal ID. If you just copy the book it copies the internal ID. There’s an article on it.

Also, if the sample is for the iBooks Store, make sure you use the iBooks Store option (select the triangle) when exporting so it is sample not a full book, or else you’ll get an upload error in iTunes Producer.
