How to extract content(pictures) for appletv 1.gen.

Appletv 1.gen. 160 gb storage. Is the content connected to the logged-on itunes account on the appletv? Or can I transfer the pictures to my macbook without using the itunes account? My wife is the owner of the appletv, but her ex-boyfriend is the owner of the itunes-account. Is the content on the appletv stored on the appletv or is stored from the itunes account?
