Yes I’m aware of that. But it defeats the purpose if I have to pick up my phone and unlock it to have Siri read my texts to me. I drive a lot for work and have used Siri to read and send texts and massages for years all while keeping my phone on my hip or being charged. Now I have to unlock my phone for Siri to do the work. That makes absolutely no sense at all!
I can't say for sure but I believe that this closed a security hole for anyone being able to have Siri read messages or email to them. The phone wants to authenticate that it's actually you that wants the messages read to them.
I feel like this must be a bug since it wasn't happening with my iPhone 6. Any official answer? Also I do have it set to use siri while locked so again, if this was an ID issue they wouldn't have that as an option. (To be sure, I just now set it to "off" and then "on" again so maybe it's one of those bugs that works after toggling. will check later).
It could be that you have on “Do not disturb while driving”
That’s the best answer so far but it still defeats the purpose of using my tacoma’s Bluetooth system. I think they can come up with a better option.
why cant we use siri to text in the car anymore?
