IPhone 6 randomly dies and inaccurate battery

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me with recent issues I'm having with my IPhone 6. Three days ago I updated my phone to IOS 11 and ever since I am having really bad battery issues. My phone will charge ridiculously quickly and also drop charge quickly. It will also die at high percentages (~60%) and then when I plug it in it will say my phone is at 5%. Then when it is still plugged in, it will sometimes jump back up to ~60% or it will charge way too fast (to 100% in 30 mins).

Before the update, I had no issues with my phone and the battery was amazing. My phone has no other performance issues and is decently new.

I believe that this is a software issue and I have tried restarting my phone, factory resetting it and logging out of my Apple ID. But, none of these have worked.

Please let me know if you have any tips.

Thank you,

Ashley

When you did what you are calling a factory reset, are you referring to restoring your phone to factory using iTunes, and setting the phone up as new? If not, that is the final step that you would take before making a Genius Bar appointment. If you did not do this, see this support document about the restore, and set it up as a new phone and test for a period of time. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support. Sometimes during iOS updates, a process can get stuck attempting to end on the phone, especially if you do the update over-the-air (OTA). This factory restore will put a fresh copy of iOS on the device and with the elimination of all other content, it can give the phone a chance to "start over". If the phone starts to act alright, then go ahead and restore your last backup. If it remains alright, then you are okay. If the problem comes back, then restore to factory again and then you will have to add your content back to the phone manually, without using your backup. It would seem there is some corrupt data in the backup.

Thank you. A restore from backup, is not a factory restore. That is why I wanted to be sure. Before adding everything in manually, take some time to test and make sure that the battery is holding better. Then go ahead and add your content back. Good luck. If you still have issues with the battery, then make a Genius Bar appointment to have the battery and the other hardware checked. If you don't have an Apple store close, you can start a support request online and they can actually check the battery remotely, by sending you an email with a link that will allow you to run a battery diagnostic and they will share a report with you after that.
