My phone slipped out of my pocket getting into my car and the screen cracked, I just got my phone in April of this year so I still have the year warranty on it, would that cover getting it fixed?

No, warranty covers manufacturing defects, not accidental damage.
Apple Care+, had you bought it for the iPhone, extends warranty to a second year and offers screen replacement for up to 2 incidents of accidental damage for a reduced fee.
And, you cannot get Apple Care+ after 60 days, or once the iPhone has actually been damaged.
Probably not because the crack caused by the drop will be consider damage which is not covered by the warranty.
You can make an appointment to have Apple evaluate it.
Will Apple warranty cover my cracked screen?
