Do some homework first.
Verify that all off the apps that you use and depend
on are compatible with High Sierra. Especially if you
depend on them as part of your job. Too many posts here
complain about a macOS upgrade breaking their needed
apps and bringing their business to a standstill when all
they needed to do was a few minutes of research. There
may be upgrades or updates to those apps that are
compatible and you may have to pay for them, another
consideration.
The above also holds true of any third party hardware that
you may be using.
And above all else, always, always make backups of critical
data before doing an upgrade. Actually, you should be doing
this anyway as trusting your digital life to a single device is
an accident waiting to happen.
I would say no, ************* This has been the most buggy launch for macOS and iOS. I would stick to 10.12 for now as there isn’t anything you can’t do with it but the main thing is that it’s stable, but if you have to update. BACK UP FIRST

I upgraded my late 2012 27' iMac when High Sierra was released, I had a few problems for a few weeks but once High Sierra 10.13.1 was released it fixed all the problems I had.
If I were I would upgrade it just make sure you have a backup and that you check any applications you use are compatible with High Sierra.
Good Luck
Yes.
It's always a good idea to have a backup before taking the plunge.
If you do, then I say go for it.
