Can not Subscribe to some Podcasts

Since I updated iTunes to 12.7.1.14 on Windows 10 I have been having issues with new episodes of certain podcasts not downloading. This forced me to manually go through my list of podcasts a few times a week and check for new episodes and manually download them. This doesn't happen to all my Podcasts, just some of them.

Today when I was doing it I have noticed that none of those Podcasts that were not downloading are subscribed anymore, some are still marked as subscribed and are downloading fine. They used to be so I thought it would be a simple fix of clicking subscribe but unfortunately that isn't doing anything. The button clicks but it doesn't change to Subscribed or give an error message.

Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did they fix it.

I am running Windows Defender.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one. The new podcast download was so seamless and easy...now it's turned into a struggle. I tried resetting my iPod to factor setting but it didn't work...but it did confirm that the problem is with iTunes and not my iPod.

I found a semi work around in the meantime. It's not perfect but, it might get us by until they figure out a problem.

  1. Open iTunes without your device plugged in.
  2. Select Podcasts from the drop down list in the left corner (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Audiobooks)
  3. Once the listing of podcasts comes up, click all of the new episodes shown with the blue bold download icon.
  4. All of the new episodes will download.
  5. Plug in your device and it should sync up.

Please keep me posted...and thanks for calling them. I figured that they wouldn't be able to directly help since it's a problem that's not straight forward to fix.

Decided to try and get some help from the support line.

One hour later I'm still on the phone after being passed from the tech team to the iTunes team. The tech team suggested deleting the podcasts and then trying to resubscribe, which I can not do as it would delete episodes not currently available, and then suggested uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling which I have already done with no success. The iTunes team are confused why I have been passed across as they only sort out payment issues and issues with accounts so they are trying to pass me back.
