iPad Model A1219

I have an original iPad model A1219 that I still use occasionally for email and simple games, books, etc. After several weeks of non-use, on starting it up it will no longer access the server to retrieve e-mail or the home page. I have tried powering on and off, and doing a settings reset, to no avail. My more recent iPad is working fine with the same server. Any suggestions?

Access the email server, what kind of error message are you seeing? Can't access the home page, exactly what are you saying here? That you do not see anything on the screen when you turn the device on? Please explain, as email access and displaying the home screen are two completely, non-related things.

Thanks for your reply Chris. Sorry I was not clearer. The device works fine, and starts up properly as it always has. The problem, which never appeared before, occurs when you click on the "Email" icon on the Main Screen. (The 'Home Page' I was referring to was the browser home page, which, oddly enough seems to be okay now.)

The Yahoo e-mail screen comes up, with old messages still there from when I last used it weeks ago. But then a window appears which says "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed". I click the included "Okay" button, the window disappears, then reappears. After a couple of tries, it stops reappearing. I'm left with just those old messages.

My newer iPad which I use regularly has no problem accessing the same server at the same time.

Strangely enough, if I go to Yahoo using the browser on this old iPad, I can sign in and access the mail account and any new messages. But I cannot get there using the "Email" icon on the iPad's main screen.

Okay. For the iOS devices, there really isn't a home page when using Safari. It will just either go to the last page that you were at, or to a blank page, and then you give it an address.

As far as the issue with Yahoo, I've been reading a number of threads in the last couple of days that they are having multiple server issues and that getting mail with many of the mail programs is failing. I believe that is probably where the issue is at. Accessing it with the browser through their web portal is probably the way to go right now. I'm not sure what it will take to fix it, but I've not read of anyone getting any relief yet. You can always contact Yahoo support to see what they have to say, or struggle through using their web access for right now. I realize that makes things difficult, so I would at least give Yahoo some feedback if you don't ask them for support.
