Question: Contacts note area is truncated in High Sierra

All of my contacts have long note areas, and since upgrading to High Sierra they are all truncated, usually (but not always) to six lines. See screenshot below.

There is a workaround, which is to click into the notes area and edit something, and suddenly the whole note will appear, with scroll bars. Clicking away and back again causes the truncation to happen again.

For really long multi-page notes the truncation happens at about a page, and the workaround does not work because although you can scroll through the whole note you cant select the end of it to add more details.

Anyone else experiencing this? Or even more relevantly, is anyone NOT experiencing it which might be useful diagnostically.

This is absolutely killing how I work - I depend on contacts and seeing notes and I cannot believe that apple hasn't offered an update to fix this. Is there a place to put in a request to apple for a fix? I'm crippled! And ******. This is the exact reason I NEVER upgrade... made the mistake this time, didn't I?
