Photos are blurring when trying to edit pictures shot with iphone x's new portrait lighting mode

Checking to see if others are having this issue, and if so, is there a workaround.

I am taking pictures using the iphone X's new portrait lighting mode. They come out fine on the phone, and I can also change the lighting on the phone. However, when I open my photos app on my Mac, the photos initially come out fine on the screen, but if I try to edit them, they end up being blurry (and in most cases finds another part of the picture to be in focus).

Not sure if this is just part of the "beta" launch of this feature, but I would be interested if I'm the only one experiencing this. Thanks all!
