Why do I not get alert sounds?

I get the alert, but no alert sound.

My work requires that I stay up-to-date on events. I have the CNN and Fox News apps on my iPhone 8, (iOS 11.1). When I get an alert from FOX News my iPhone make an alerts sound. However, when I get an alert from CNN no sound is made at all.

Under Settings > Notifications, Both FOX News and CNN, are set the exact same way. I have tried turning notifications on and off and power cycling my iPhone, and BUYING a new iPhone.

In settings, I have both apps configured exactly alike. Also, I can find no way of changing the alert sound itself. Is this sound fixed by Apple? Any ideas on how I can get an alert sound when I get an alert from CNN?
